| For anyone following the threads over the last week, I posted pictures of the new Tanabe "Grip" racing springs that we installed on his car. The funny part about it was they are pumpkin orange.....on------a------black-----car. Say it with me everyone: Halloween :-) So the inevitable conclusion was reached (soley on my part thankyouverymuch) that his calipers should be orange to match.
With the help of a PS expert, this picture made it look pretty convincing that I had really painted them orange. Aaron was nervous....can you blame him? While all that was going on, this is what I was really doing:
They were at one time yellow and then painted black over the yellow. But the paint was chipping off and looked like this:
.JPG) Needless to say, even orange would have been an improvement :-P On Saturday, Aaron arrives and is visibly relieved to see that the calipers were NOT orange. Here's a picture of his reaction:
.JPG) By the way, that shirt was flat-out hilarious on Aaron's petite figure. Even better were the looks we got when we went to Subway to get lunch (the lone girl at the counter took a look at me and Aaron and promptly called for extra help). Back to the Tanabe springs. I must admit I was skeptical about how this would look on the car, let alone how it would ride. The front springs drop the car 1.8" and the rears by 1.4" - I was expecting that I wouldn't be able to get his car off the lift pads. To my surprise, the car looks pretty decent with the springs (will have to wait to see if they settle lower), and the ride was no worse than Eibach's (you could even tell the difference between the sport and touring settings). We also put new OEM struts and Stillen sways on the car - overall this is not a bad combo. Here's what the car looks like:

I didn't get too many pictures of the work on his car as I was dropping the precats and installing DP's without taking the tranny out. If he didn't have an automatic transmission, I probably would have taken the transmission out to make the job easier. It's too hard to get my oversized paws in those tight areas. I have this only picture of Don (TTwinZ(CT)) pulling the rear wheel off his car to prove that he can handle tools :-) .JPG) You can also see evidence of Don's new paint on his car. Too bad it was rainy all day long, I would have liked to see the new paint in the sunlight. Super white with a hint of blue pearl if I recall correctly.
Other misc pictures: Ian (titvillius37), Aaron's G/F, and Aaron chatting in the background)
.JPG) Aaron found humor in this stamping on Don's exhaust *shrug* I guess it's a Honduh thing:
.JPG) Here's another view of Aaron's car that shows the stance and for anyone wondering what the CF ducts look like on a black Z:
.JPG) Here's Don thinking to himself "That's the last time Aaron gets to see those wheels on his car" (he and Aaron traded wheels - along with some money I'm sure):
.JPG) And lastly, I took a couple of pictures of my car parked underneath Aaron's with the underside reflecting on my hood. I thought this might make for an interesting sig pic once I clean one of these two up (too bad the exhaust isn't more photogenic):
.JPG)
.JPG) It was a fun time. Don now has TP's and DP's on his car. And Aaron's car is still hanging in the garage waiting for the ES lower control arm bushings to be installed by the bushing elves.... Dave N.
